Art with a Heart - Ukraine Projects

Weekly classes are currently underway with 4-5 local artists who will be working with a variety of youth from the Durham Region to "taste" a bit of each discipline that the artists specialize in. We currently have Kim Mather working on an acrylic/textile project, Janice Brown working with wire, clay medium, stones, Sheri Gundry (www.reachingintoheaven.com) working with Modern Batik Art and Acrylic Painting, local author Leon Burt working with students on writing component of program to develop artist biographies and work descriptions.

Youth will be selecting the medium that they will work on for a larger scale project with the artist specific to that discipline. Their goal is to produce a number of pieces in their medium of choice and at least one of them will be auctioned off at the finale event towards the end of March 25th, 2010 at the Whitby Centennial Building, 416 Centre Street South, Whitby, ON.

Finale event; the unveiling of the finished donated works by both the artists and students to be auctioned off to raise funds for on-going programs in the arts through Durham Family Court Clinic "Seeds of Hope" Campaign. VIP Tickets include advanced viewing of the art pieces, meet and greet with artists and private wine sampling. General admission tickets are also available to the public.
